Application Case – Jiuquan Iron & Steel Group Equips Melting Furnaces with “Nano Thermal Insulation Coating”
In the aluminum melting workshop of Dongxing Jiayu New Materials Co., Ltd., high-temperature exposure was once a persistent problem affecting both production and workers. Previously, due to severe heat loss from the melting furnaces, the workshop temperature consistently exceeded 40°C. This not only led to persistently high power consumption per ton of aluminum produced, but also subjected frontline workers to year-round high-temperature “baking”.
Using a special process, a 2.5-3mm thick aerogel coating is sprayed on the outer wall of the furnace, equivalent to equipping the furnace with an efficient “nano thermal insulation coating”, achieving significant energy-saving and cooling effects. The energy-saving effect of this technology is even more prominent in winter, with the temperature reduction reaching twice that of summer.
The application effect of aerogel nano-insulation technology is immediate. On-site measured data shows that after spraying the aerogel coating, the furnace surface temperature generally dropped by 7-13°C, with a maximum reduction of 13.1°C in the insulated area. More importantly, the power consumption per ton of aluminum decreased by 10.4%, equivalent to saving 17.5 kWh per ton of aluminum produced.
